Ship's Cook Certificate of Competency

All Ship's Cooks are required to hold a maritime cooks qualification if they are working on vessels operating beyond 60 miles from a UK safe haven and with more than 10 seafarers on board.

Food Safety; Food Hygiene

All personnel handling food in the galley for other seafarers must also be qualified in Food Safety or Food Hygiene. The minimum level of certificate is a UK Level 2. The list of qualifications that are recognised by the MCA is published in MIN 531(M).
