About this event

The UK Ship Register is proud to once again support London International Shipping Week (LISW) as a Platinum Sponsor for this year’s event.

Running from September 13 to 17, LISW 2021 offers a blended format, with events taking place virtually, in-person and a hybrid combination of the two, thereby enabling an even wider, international audience to participate.

It offers over 150 industry functions and unique networking opportunities for leaders across the international shipping industry, including regulators, charters, ship owners and managers, as well as supporting industries such as maritime finance, legal services, insurers, and commodity traders and brokers. Plus, the headline conference and gala dinner, attract the very highest-level government and shipping industry leaders from the UK and around the world.

What to expect from the week

The global maritime sector has faced significant challenges in the past 18 months and further hurdles lie ahead. From the more immediate difficulties of navigating post-pandemic logistics, to longer-term factors such as technology innovation and changes to fuel, there is much to consider for today’s ship owners, operators, and maritime professionals.

Throughout the week, the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and wider teams will be hosting various events.

These include an industry roundtable, a talk on the Future of the Flag, and a presentation from Maritime Future Technologies team experts.

All events will also include a live Q&A where you’ll have the opportunity to share your thoughts, feedback, and ask questions of our teams.

Why should you attend

The next decade will see huge leaps in the maritime industry. From changes in the fuels we use, to the greater use of autonomous technology and achieving decarbonisation targets set out by IMO.

Not only will these high calibre events offer valuable insight, but experts from across the MCA will be there to help you address some of these challenges responsibly, sustainably, and innovatively.

Specialists in both decarbonisation and autonomous shipping will be available for informal talks about how they can support ship owners and your organisation through this transition.

Further discussions around digitalisation, the future of seafarer training, prioritising sustainability and the environment, and increasing commercial viability for our UK Ship Register (UKSR) customers with planned fiscal changes to the UK Maritime offer are also high up on the agenda.
