An amendment has recently been released providing updated guidance on MIN 690 which details regulations for the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) oral examination booking, the issue of notices of eligibility (NOEs) and the online oral examination processes.
The fourth amendment provides notice for all those involved in maritime training and includes important information around UKLAP 1 examinations.
UKLAP 1 examinations will now be computer-based online proctored exams that can be taken anywhere, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Although Microsoft Teams-based online oral examinations were successfully implemented in 2020, this update for UKLAP 1 examinations, means that seafarers will have the flexibility to take their exam anywhere in the world and at any time.
Seafarers looking to take a UKLAP 1 examination will receive a notice of assessment (NOA) email which will contain a link to access the online exam platform, My Know, along with a username and password. This will also contain a link to the amended marine information note which has the Candidate Code of Conduct in the annex.
