The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) has announced a three-month compliance initiative, running from 1 January to 31 March 2026, aimed at enforcing standards and “embedding a culture of safety” among ports and marine facilities.

The newly launched exercise, which will be live for three months, provides “a proactive opportunity for all ports and marine facilities to review, assess, and demonstrate proportional alignment” with the Ports and Marine Facilities Safety Code (PMSC).

While compliance with the code is not a legal requirement, the framework has been created to ensure safety and allow facilities to play their part in reducing risk and to operate responsibly.

Adopting the PMSC enhances professionalism, accountability, and builds trust among stakeholders in the maritime community.

Find out more in the press release on GOV.UK or visit the PMSC Compliance Exercise page to take part.
