Transfer Out from Part 1 of the UK Ship Register to another Red Ensign Ship Registry

If a vessel is currently registered with the UK Ship Register, there is the option of transferring the registration to another Red Ensign Group ship register.

Completing a transfer out from the UK Ship Register will mean the vessel retains the UK Official Number, the history of the vessel's registration is continuous, and there is no need to have a new Certificate of Survey for Tonnage and Measurement issued.

Copies of title documents will remain with the UK Ship Register and registered mortgages cannot be transferred from one ship register to another.

Documents needed for a Part 1 vessel transfer:

Please note you will need to print off and sign any documents as we cannot accept digital signatures.

As part of the process, please contact the receiving registry the vessel is transferring to, as they may have requirements or fees that the UK Ship Register does not know about.

We will forward any relevant documents to the receiving registry and, once the receiving registry has confirmed they have completed the registration, we will close the UK registration.

You can email documents to us at uksr@mcga.gov.uk
