If a vessel is currently registered on the UK Ship Register but is changing ownership because it is being sold, purchased or inherited, the register needs to be updated. This also applies if the new owner or owners want to change the register to show their details and have a Certificate of Registry showing their name or names.
Documents needed for Small Ships Register (Part 3) change of ownership
Please note, you will need to print off and sign any documents, as we cannot accept digital signatures.
- Application to Register MSF 4701
- Bill of Sale or sales invoice to the new owner MSF 4705
- Online payment of £35 fee via GOV.UK secure payment link (for five year period)
Any documents used to support your application for Part 3 registration, if not in English, must be accompanied by a notarised translation.
If a registered owner has passed away, probate may be needed as confirmation of who can transfer ownership of the vessel.
