Pleasure Vessel Change of Details (Part 1)

If you have previously completed your vessel registration using the online service, you can log in to change your vessels details via the online UK Ship Register service.

If you have not already created a UK Ship Register online customer account, or have not yet linked an existing customer online account to your vessel registration record, you will need to create an account for the online UK Ship Register service and ensure it is linked to your vessel registration record.

If you are changing a vessel measurement, tonnage, engine, or vessel type/use we will need supporting documentation to be included and fees to be paid.

Changing details in your online account

Change of vessel name and/or Port

To register a change of pleasure vessel name or a change of port, you can make the change through your UK Ship Register online service customer account and pay the appropriate fee through the online system.

If you are applying via email or post, you will also need to complete an application form.

Please note that any documents used to support your application, if not in English, must be accompanied by a notarised translation. You will need to print off and sign any documents, as we cannot accept digital signatures.

  • Application for Change of Name and/or Port (MSF 4741 Rev. 11/18) (not required if registering through the online service)
  • Payment of fee for Change of Name OR Port £46
  • Payment of fee for Change of Name AND Port £63

Once the application is received, a Carving and Marking Note will be issued, which will need to be witnessed by the vessel owner or inspector if less than 24 metres, or by a UK Certifying Authority if over 24 metres. Once completed, this will need to be returned via email to uksr@mcga.gov.uk and the Certificate of Registry can then be issued.

Measurement or tonnage

Log in to your UK Ship Register online service customer account and change the vessel details. You will need to upload a Certificate of Survey for Tonnage and Measurement; the survey will need to have been completed by a surveyor from Class or a Certifying Authority (CA) within in the last 12 months.

An ITC 69 may be required if the vessel is over 24 metres in length.

Engine details

Log in to your UK Ship Register online service customer account to change the vessel's details, and upload a copy of receipt or invoice for the engine.

The invoice must include full engine details, engine power, engine maker, engine model, and proof of full payment for the engine with the invoice being linked to the vessel or the vessel owner.
