Fishing Vessel Registration Renewal - (Part 2)

An owner can renew a vessel’s registration within three months of the vessel registration expiry date. Owners will be sent an invitation to renew the vessel registration up to three months prior to the vessel registration expiry date.

Renew online

Renewing fishing vessel registration costs £70. If you want to renew the registration, you can use the UK Ship Register online service.

To complete the renewal of your vessel’s registration, your Fishing Vessel Certificate must be valid for at least six months. If your Fishing Vessel Certificate is expiring sooner, please contact your MCA Marine Office to arrange an inspection.

Before you can renew online, please ensure you have created an account for the UK Ship Register's online service and linked it to your online vessel registration record. See our guidance on managing your registration online for more information.

If you want to renew by post:

If you want to renew by post, complete the Renewal notice and return it with your current Certificate of Registry to the address at the bottom of this page.

For renewals via email or post, you can make the renewal payment of £70 online.

Once we have received your online application or renewal form, with any supporting documents and payment, a new Certificate of Registry will be issued. This is valid for five years.

If you do not want to renew

You do not need to do anything. Your registration will be closed automatically on the expiry date and Closed Transcripts can be sent to you as proof of this. The vessel's name will no longer be reserved for you and may be used immediately by another applicant.
